CRITTER CAMP 2024

CRITTER CAMP 2024

A Summer Camp for Animal Lovers

The future of animal welfare really doesn’t have much to do with animals. That may sound strange, but it’s true. The future of animal welfare actually has everything to do with children. If we teach children kindness towards animals, compassion for their survival, and a respect for the habitat that we share… then it is not much of a stretch to believe that these kids will grow up to respect others who are different from themselves, who will be kind to each other, and who will work together to make our beautiful plateau a safe, friendly and welcoming home for all creatures great and small.

That is the core mission of the CHHS Critter Camp.

Cashiers Highlands Humane Society
Waiver, Release, and Indemnification Agreement

This agreement is entered into jointly by the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society and primary parent(s)/guardian(s) listed above in order to permit the Camper to participate in the Critter Camp program. Campers and their parents have been advised that the activity of working with the shelter animals can be hazardous and involves contact with animals that can be unpredictable. As such, the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society cannot be held liable for injuries or accidents that may occur as a result of working with the animals. Campers and parents understand that the following are some, but not all, of the risks associated with working with shelter animals:

Bites or scratches from dogs or cats, being knocked down, or pulled excessively by a dog, injuries related to the finger/wrist/hand area from a dog leash, slips/trips/falls resulting from wet floors or equipment, hitting head on objects such as cage doors, kennels, shelves, etc., internal or external injuries related to lifting objects such as animals, food, or litter, flea/tick bites or ringworm exposure, zoonotic illnesses (human illness contracted from animals), animal illness exposure to animals at home, exposure to cleaners, latex gloves, bleach, parasite control products, etc., exposure to incidents relating to the public or other volunteers (outbursts, inappropriate contact), loss of personal property, any type of damage to vehicle while parked at CHHS, damage to clothing from animals, cages, chemicals, etc.

Campers and their parents are aware that injuries, loss of or damage to personal property, and death could occur as a result of a Camper’s participation at this shelter. Campers and their parents agree that CHHS and its employees shall not be held responsible or liable for any personal or other injury that should occur while attending Critter Camp.

Camper and Parents represent and warrant that he/she is physically and mentally capable of safely working with animals and the public at the shelter. Should an accident or other medical emergency occur while participating at the shelter or off-site event and CHHS staff are unable to timely reach Emergency Contacts for medical authorizations, then I as a parent/guardian hereby give consent for CHHS staff members to authorize necessary hospitalization and medical treatment, including but not limited to, injections, anesthesia, surgery, and medications.

Campers and their parents represent and warrant that Camper has current medical insurance coverage or agrees to be responsible for any and all billing and debts incurred with such medical treatment or services. Camper and their parents represent and warrant that each one of them has the authority to enter this agreement.

The Cashiers Highlands Humane Society has my permission to use my or my child’s photograph publicly to promote the shelter and Critter Camp. I understand that the images may be used in print publications, presentations, websites, and social media. I also understand that no royalty, fee or other compensation shall become payable to me by reason for such use.

I understand that Critter Camp is a great opportunity for children to learn and work with animals in need. It is imperative that campers are able to listen and follow the directions given by staff members. Their safety, as well as safety of other campers and shelter animals depends on it. I understand that if my child is being a distraction to the learning of other campers, or is being disrespectful to shelter staff or animals they may be sent home from camp with no money refunded.
